WINTER GAMES – Jan. 14-16
Our next meet is fast approaching. We expect over 100 swimmers from all over
the South East to come to Haines for this meet. Ever swimmer on HDST is capable
and encouraged to swim.
Sign ups: As usual, coaches will put an event recommendation sheet in each members box at the pool.
Sign up dates: January 6 & 7.
For a list of meet events go to: http://www.hainesdolphins.org/meets/events.php

HOUSING VOLUNTEERS IMMEDIATELY NEEDED
With over 100 swimmers coming to the meet and a DDF competition the same weekend,
Haines is going to be a busy town. If you can help house visiting swimmers during
the meet, please contact Tania Danielski, our housing coordinator: 766-3543,
Tania_danielski@hotmail.com.
Housing swimmers is a lot of fun. Kids get to make new friends while having
a sleep over. We prefer to house out visiting swimmers in pairs. Hosting two
or more is ideal.
-----------------------------------------------------------
WANT TO DO MORE?
We can also use volunteers to help run the meet. Timing, concessions and many
more areas need volunteers.
To help, contact:
Faith Lorentz - clorentz@aptalaska.net, 766-3757
Leslee Downer - dwightdowner@aptalaska.net, 766-2053

SWIM “DAY CAMP” – DEC. 30
Don’t forget that all squads are invited to the Dec. 30th, day camp from
3:30-4:30. Swimmers will be divided into small groups and be taught stroke and
turn technique by our A-squad members. The camp will conclude with a short game
period.
Swim Camp will continue on a monthly basis, every 4th Saturday of the month 9:30am-10: 30am, starting January 22nd. There is no cost for the camp J

HOLIDAY PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Winter break is traditionally the time of year that swim teams double up on
their practice efforts. With no school in session, swimmers start a two-a-day
schedule that sets them up for a strong finish for rest of the season.
The Dolphins will not double up practice, but we will continue to practice throughout the break at our usual practice time.
Practice is cancelled on:
Dec. 24 & 25
Dec. 31 & Jan. 1

FLICK N’ FLOAT
The continued success of the Flick n’ Float depends on our volunteers.
We can use help monitoring the tubes, running/selling the popcorn, admissions,
locker room monitors, cleaning, etc.
To volunteer contact:
Jessie Badger: jessieandbrad@aptalaska.net, 766-2235
Dwight & Leslee Downer: dwightdowner@aptalaska.net, 766-2053
Next Show: Dec. 18th, 6:45 (first 20 minutes is open swim).
Upcoming Show: January 2, matinee.

“PRE-C” SUCCESS
The new Pre-C squad is already very popular and we haven’t even had the
first practice. Coach RaeAnne has filled the first group with five, up and coming,
swimmers. Way to go RaeAnne!
With interest in HDST growing, the Pre-C squad may expand into two groups. But for now, we want to be sure it accommodates every ones needs.
