About HDST
The Haines Dolphins Swim Team was organized in 1997 by a group of dedicated volunteers. Our first year we sent one swimmer to Junior Olympics. Seven years later we sent our first swimmer to Nationals and had 13 qualifiers for Junior Olympics. We have grown to be one of the largest youth sports organization in Haines, operating from September through April every year.
Our swimmers have brought home numerous High Point Awards, Percentage of Best Times awards, and Most Points Per Swimmer awards in recent years. We've developed a reputation in the Alaska swimming community for having a small, high-quality team.
The Squads
The Dolphins Swim Team is divided into three squads: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Each squad is based on skill level and experience. In general, the following categories apply:
- Bronze ~ 8 years and under
- Silver ~ 9-12 years
- Gold ~ 13 years and up
Practice
Practice times can vary depending on the time of year. Most practices start at 3:30pm.
Dues
The Dolphins are currently a seasonal team, swimming from September through April. Dues are paid by the 6th of each month and are as follows:
- Gold Squad $60.00
- Silver Squad $55.00
- Bronze $40.00
